Hydrogen peroxide is one of the most popular chemicals used to eliminate sea lice from salmon farms. After treatment, the lice get thrown back into the sea, the idea being that they are dumped far enough not to be brought back to the farms with the currents.
Yet their chances of survival are unclear and IntraFish understands that many in the industry are discussing the issue. Well boat companies are notably working on finding alternatives to throwing the lice back into the sea.
