Official figures published Friday show overseas sales of Scottish salmon in the first half of the year have risen by 25 percent to £319 million (€344 million/$385.3 million), and volume of exports also increased by 25 percent to 47,000 metric tons, compared with the same period in 2018.

In the first six months of 2019 Scottish salmon was exported to 47 countries.

France was the top market, with sales of £109 million (€117.5 million/$131.7 million). The United States is the second largest market, with sales of £97 million (€104.6 million/$117.2 million).

Overall, the largest trading region remains the EU with total sales of £153 million (€165 million/$184.8 million).
