Combined, Norway and Chile account for around 75 to 80 percent of the world's production of farmed Atlantic salmon.
However, Chile should no longer consider Norway solely as a competitor, SalmonChile's retiring chairman Jose Ramon Gutierrez said.
”It’s not always a good thing to just focus on competition. I think we often have more to gain from a mixture of competition and cooperation."
Gutierrez is one of the founders and an executive director on the board of Multiexport Foods, a corporation listed on Santiago Stock Exchange which owns the salmon producer Salmones Multiexport SA.
