Last Friday, Nov. 29, IntraFish reported that salmon was selling at an average price of NOK 38 (€4.70/$6.20) for 3-kilo fish. That correspondeds to an increase of around NOK 5 (€0.62/$0.82).
Yet this week the increase continues with prices up by NOK 6 (€0.74/$0.98) to an average of NOK 44 (€5.50/$7.20) per kilo, according to estimates from five exporters IntraFish contacted.
The increase has sent shockwaves in the market.
“The price is well around and above NOK 40 (€5/$6.50) for most sizes,” one exporter in western Norway told IntraFish.
