Salmon prices: Has recovery begun?

Salmon prices are up NOK 2.3 (€0.31/$0.4) to NOK 27 (€3.7/$4.7), reports Nordea Markets in its weekly update on Norwegian salmon prices.

"It is more or less the same as last week when prices went down," writes analyst Kolbjorn Giskeodegard. He remains optimistic, estimating a kilogram price of nearly NOK 34 (€4.6/$5.9) in the first quarter of 2013.

TDN Finans reported spot market prices for fresh salmon up from last Friday, bouncing back to NOK 27.50 (€3.8/$4.8) per kilogram, delivered Oslo.

"Farmers held back a little when they saw prices were low," one exporter told TDN Finans.
