Salmon farming in the Sahara?

What sounds like the title of a movie could actually become reality soon: In the future, the Sahara will be the ideal place to produce salmon for European markets.

Solar energy can provide necessary power requirements and space won't become a problem, Lara Barazi-Yeroulanos, CEO at Kefalonia Fisheries, told IntraFish at the first day of the NASF event in Bergen.

"Remember the world's largest recycling facility is located in the desert of Abu Dhabi," she said during an interview after her opening address at the conference.
