Oct. 24 2002 - WorldCatch Wave - Anti-salmon- farming crusader Don Staniford was honored with the Andrew Lees Memorial Award at Wednesday's British Environment and Media Awards (BEMAs) ceremony in London.
Launched in 1989 by Media Natura, the BEMAs promote excellence in environmental reporting. The World Wildlife Fund took over the running of the BEMAs in 2001. The judges commended Staniford as a pre-eminent campaigner on the ecological, economic, consumer and safety issues associated with the fish farming industry, particularly in Scotland.
