Franck Asche, the professor who predicted that salmon prices would keep rising to NOK 50 (€6.4/$9.31) per kilo, said he cannot explain the sudden and quick price drop.

In March, Asche, a professor at the Science and Technology department of the Norwegian University of Stavanger, said that prices were set to keep rising.

At the time, he said, prices were likely to hit NOK 50 (€6.4/$9.31) in June – and possibly even NOK 60 (€7.68/$11.2). Instead, prices have been dropping since week 15, hitting less than NOK 30 (€3.84/$5.59)
