The first news emerged on Wednesday after the retail chain ICA said it had found unwanted intestinal bacteria in salmon products from SalMar.

Fair enough the total amount of salmon affected is small -- 2.6 metric tons -- and SalMar has since explained that this was due to a human error in their logistics.

Then later on the same day, the Norwegian broadcaster NRK announced that fish had escaped from one of SalMar’s farms. In February, some 175,000 fish had escaped from a SalMar farm.
