IntraFish reported the incident March 18. At that time SalMar had received an advance warning a coercive fine would be imposed by the Directorate of Fisheries; which would mean having to pay more than NOK 3 (€0.39/$0.51) per day.
Larsen told IntraFish he disagreed with the fisheries directorate. He explained that if the directorate, after SalMar had submitted a reply, maintained this claim, then the farm would have to be moved. This was confirmed by the directorate.
However, last Thursday, SalMar received a message from the directorate that they had accepted SalMar’s explanation.
