Salmar escape: A tiny affair

"A count done on a wellboat suggests that between 50 and 150 salmon have escaped," Bjorn Larsen, head of aquaculture at SalMar, told IntraFish.

The final number will first emerge when the salmon is slaughtered, as counts from the wellboats carry a margin of error.

News of an escape from a SalMar farm was first reported by the Norwegian broadcaster NRK on June 8.

In February, some 175,000 fish had escaped from a SalMar farm.
