The meeting is organized by a Russo-Norwegian committee that oversees the two country's economic, industrial and technical cooperation. Also expected to attend the meeting is Giske's Russian counterpart, Viktor Zubkov.

Norwegian exports to Russia totaled NOK 12 billion (€1.5billion/ $2 billion) last year, and fish products accounted for 80 percent of the amount.

Severnaya, founded by Aleksandrovitsj Kornev, is a major importer of Norwegian seafood into Russia, and is led by Norwegian entrepreneur Borge Prytz Larsen.
