Russian processor Baltic Coast is planning on hitting 40,000 metric tons of farmed salmon production by 2013, as it pumps millions of dollars into aquaculture.

The company, based in St. Petersburg, has invested $70 million into its salmon farming in the Murmansk region, and plans to produce 10,000 metric tons this year, said Julia Leontyeva, its import manager.  

“In 2011, we produced 3,000 metric tons of salmon, in 2012 we plan 10,000 metric tons and in a couple of years; 40,000 metric tons,” she told IntraFish.
