Pacific Andes is “wrongfully perceived” as owning fishing quotas in Russia, the company told IntraFish, in reaction to comments from the Russian fishery agency. 

The Hong Kong-based, vertically integrated, seafood giant is under pressure in Russia, with the government and the pollock industry itself coming out to question the extent of its participation in the pollock fishery.

Russia's government is continuing to talk of investigations into how the company operates in the Far East. 

On July 19, Vladimir Kashin, chairman of the committee for natural resources, environment and ecology of the Duma, sent a deputy's inquiry to Yuri Chaika, the general prosecutor of the Russian Federation and to Victor Ishayev, representative of the president in the Far Eastern Federal District, according to a statement from the fisheries agency emailed to IntraFish.
