Russian Fishery Company (RFC) -- Russia's largest pollock quota holder with 206,200 metric tons for 2015 -- inked an agreement with state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) for the construction of a series of new freezer trawlers.

Details on the design of the vessels have not been disclosed, but according to a company spokesperson, the trawlers will resemble the large-sized freezer trawlers currently in operation. They will also feature equipment for value-adding processing on board.

"We're planning to build five to seven vessels," Ilya Vlasenko, corporate communications director at RFC, told IntraFish.
