Russia opens borders to four Norwegian salmon firms

Russia's food safety authority Rosselkhoznadzor announced Tuesday afternoon it has opened its borders to four banned Norwegian frozen salmon suppliers.

The companies included Breivoll Marine Products, Grieg Seafood Finnmark, Martin E. Birknes Eftf, and Nova Sea.

At the same time temporary restrictions will be introduced to packaging companies Bremnes Seashore and Nils Williksen from Aug. 8.

Despite the move, Sergei Dankvert, CEO at the authority, wrote in a letter to Harald Gjein from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (FSA) -- published on Rosselkhoznadzor's website -- expressing "very serious concern" over the lack of Norwegian veterinary certificates.

It
