A source told IntraFish several Norwegian exporters received letters warning them of a possible import ban, but officals at Marine Harvest and SalMar said they have not been notified of any potential ban.
“We have received no information confirming these rumors or speculations from either Norwegian or Russian Food Safety authorities, nor from our customers in Russia,” Marine Harvest Communications Director Jorgen Christiansen told IntraFish.
SalMar CEO Leif Inge Nordhammer, speaking to Norwegian Web site TDN Finans, confirmed he had heard the rumors but said his company had no definitive information on any ban.
