The number of unwanted bacteria in the fish was higher than acceptable, Russian authorities said, according to a statement by the Norwegian Food and Safety Authority (NFSA).

SalMar’s sales director Dag Ryste said the company was still trying to make sense of the Russian food authorities’ findings.

“We have not been informed about which production this concerns. The message from Russia is unclear and we have hopes that this issue will be resolved very rapidly via the NFSA,” Ryste told IntraFish.
