Russia leads Norwegian seafood buyers

New calculations from the World Bank show Russia’s gross national product (GNP) will decline 7.9 percent this year. It’s a dramatically deteriorated estimate from March, when the anticipated downturn was 4.5 percent.

These gloomy forecasts have not impacted Norwegian seafood. Instead, all indications say Norwegian seafood is heading towards a new record year for the sixth year in a row.

“For the first time ever, exports to all markets will pass the magic limit of NOK 40 billion (€4.4 billion/$6.1 billion),” Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) Managing Director Terje Martinussen told Finansavisen.
