Russia's fisheries agency, Rosrybolovstvo, said it plans on removing harvesting quotas from vessels found to be under foreign control without government approval, and is calling for the launch of an investigation to oust companies illegally controlling Russian vessels.

The agency is recommending the establishment of a special commission at the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to investigate ownership of domestic vessels, made up of representatives from the FAS, Rosrybolovstvo and other government authorities.

Under current law, foreign investors can obtain a share in the domestic fishing enterprises and harvesting quotas in the Russian waters only under the approval of a government commission on foreign investments.
