Two months into the 2012 Alaska black cod season, the catch is coming in as expected, with 9.8 million pounds of the total 29.3 pound quota captured. Demand is holding steady despite a historically high price point, but distributor Dick Martin isn’t placing any bets on the species.
The price of fillets has gone from $5 (€3.97) to $6 (€4.76) per pound three years ago to about $9 (€7.15) per pound two years ago to $15 (€11.91) per pound last year.
