The Copper River season kicked off Thursday with mild weather.
Although Alaska Air Cargo traditionally flies the first load of Copper River fish to Seattle Friday morning, another company is looking to claim that honor this year.
Seattle's Salty’s restaurant hopes to beat Alaska Air to the punch and catch and eat the first Copper River salmon the day of the season opener.
