In 2010 to 2011, China experienced two consecutive seasons of drought, one in winter and one in spring, which affected two different regions within the country.

This June, China was hit by the worst flooding since 1955. However, this is a positive for the country’s fish farmers.

“While the spring drought partially affected the aquaculture and rice sectors, potential damage could still be offset by the results of the second half of the year,” said the report.

The rains will also bring hope for the aquaculture industry, as the water levels have risen in the Yangtze region’s lakes and rivers.
