The company reported earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of €27.1 million ($39.3 million) for 2010, an 80 percent increase compared to 2009.

Calvo’s sales for 2010 were €492.1 million ($713.5 million), compared to €414.3 million ($587.8 million) for 2009.

In a Q&A with IntraFish, CEO Manuel Calvo Garcia-Benavides, gives his view on how the company is continuing to grow in tough economic times by expanding into new markets.

IntraFish: Calvo dramatically increased revenue and profitability for 2010. Can you tell me how you have achieved this?

Manuel Calvo: One of the main reasons for which we have achieved these results is the internationalization policy, which has been one of the company’s most constant commitments since the beginning.

The company’s latest financial results have been the best in its history because of its innovation and differentiation strategy.
