PSVOA plans to charge Alaska processors for MSC label use; 'This is not a freebee'

Now that the Purse Seine Vessel Owners Association (PSVOA) is slated to become the client for Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, the organization is planning to charge processors who want to use the MSC ecolabel.

The PSVOA plans to ask processors to pay a share of the fisheries certification fee, Executive Director Bob Kehoe told IntraFish.

“I think there needs to be an agreement as far as who is paying what before they’re in the fold,” Kehoe said. “This is not a freebee.”
