Insiders in the salmon industry are pointing at this as a possible explanation for the Danes’ marked disgruntlement with the currently high salmon prices.

A comparison prepared by IntraFish shows Polish buyers acquire salmon far cheaper than their Danish counterparts. In March there was no less than NOK 4 (€0.50/$0.68) difference in the kilo price between the price paid by the Poles and paid by the Danes.

“Polish buyers are cleverer at using long-term contracts, while the Danes only want to buy on the spot market,” said an industry source.

“When
