Seafood giant Pescanova reported top and bottom line growth on booming shrimp sales and its operations outside of Spain, despite the negative impact of the salmon price crash on its business.
The Vigo, Spain-based multinational reported 2011 sales of €1.66 billion ($2.2 billion) -- up 6.3 percent year-on-year -- and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of €183 million ($241.8 million), up 12 percent year-on-year.
Its pre-tax profit increased 34 percent to €48.3 million ($63.8 million), driven by its growing aquaculture division, said Chairman Manuel Fernandez de Sousa-Faro, in a conference call with analysts and journalists on Monday.
