Peru’s Ministry of Production’s (Produce) authorization of a second anchovy season with a fishing quota of 1.1 million tons could help mitigate the drastic results from last year’s zero quota, but it may have come too late for companies to fully utilize the quota and produce higher-grade product.
Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil processor companies heard earlier this month they’d be allowed to catch 1.1 million metric tons of anchovy in the North Central region of the Peruvian Sea, after the Instituto del Mar del Peru (Imarpe) carried out two additional expeditions in the area.
“All
