Peru's Ministry of Production (Produce) has decided to open the second season of anchovy fishing in the North Central region of the Peruvian Sea, with a quota of 1.11 million metric tons.
The season will begin on Nov. 17 and will end on Jan. 31, 2016.
A decision on the second anchovy season was expected earlier this month, however, Produce asked for a number of additional expeditions and reports from the Instituto del Mar del Peru (Imarpe) to establish an accurate biomass.
