With the market for pangasius going through a tough time in recent months -- particularly in Europe -- the Vietnamese producer and processor Hung Vuong looks well-placed to survive any temporary downturn in demand.

Established in 2003 as a limited company, the group soon realized that simply being farmers and growers of pangasius would not be enough if they were to compete on global markets. By 2007 they re-launched themselves as the Hung Vuong Corporation.

In doing so, began a complete vertical integration program, which resulted in a transformation from fish farmers to a closed circuit group self sufficient in feed production, fish growth, processing and marketing -- giving total control of the system from hatchery to consumer.
