A spokeswoman for Asian seafood giant Pacific Andes declined to comment on rumors the company is to acquire the 40 percent stake in US processor National Fish and Seafood it does not already own.

The other 40 percent in the Gloucester, Massachusetts-based company is owned by Jack Ventola, president, who founded the company in 1979.

Sources told IntraFish that Pacific Andes is buying the stake to take full control of the company.

The Hong Kong-listed company declined to comment on the news.

Ventola and other senior executives at National Fish did not return requests for comment.
