A  wide range of US products – from chicken to tomatoes to ranch dressing – have benefited as US consumers have grown increasingly enchanted with the word "organic," but as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s timeline for creating standards for labeling seafood organic stretches into oblivion, seafood companies are enlisting the help of foreign certifiers to get organic seafood labels into US grocery stores.

Tropical Aquaculture launched its Murphy’s Irish Organic Salmon, farmed in Ireland’s Bantry Bay and certified organic by the European Union, two  years ago.

“Year to date, the product has done better than last (year),” John Schramm, president for Tropical Aquaculture, told IntraFish.
