“If we for example assume the normal temperature in the sea to be around 7 degrees Celsius in western Norway, it is around 4 degrees Celsius this winter. That is enough of a drop to halve the growth rate. It will have massive significance for production volume,” First Securities analyst Aslak Berge told IntraFish.
So far this year, salmon sales are more than 20 percent higher than for the corresponding period last year. Without the same rate of growth the outcome is a substantial tapping of the biomass.
