Space is one of the biggest challenges the EU aquaculture sector is facing. If allowed, said Courtney Hough, general secretary at the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP), fish farming would move offshore.
"We're just waiting for someone in the commercial sector to make the first move," he told IntraFish.
There are "clear opportunities to expand operations without creating too much conflict," he said.
Cage integration with wind turbines is probably one of the biggest opportunities, but discussions on offshore aquaculture have touched various areas.
