Canadian seafood company Ocean Choice International  is heading up a CAD$1.4 million ($1.41million/ €994,600 million) research project to enhance its yellowtail flounder fishing operations.

“The purpose of this project is to make sure that we can have a viable and sustainable operation for future generations and farm consciously,” Paula Kieley, spokesperson for the Newfoundland-based wild-caught fishing company, told IntraFish on Wednesday.

Heading up the research is the Marine Institute at Memorial University’s School of Ocean Technology, which received CAD$500,000 ($503,925/€355,227) for the study.
