South Africa's Oceana Group announced the appointment of Imraan Soomra as its new interim CEO on Wednesday, after CEO Francois Kuttel announced his resignation earlier this month.

The company originally named Rodney Nicol as his replacement until a suitable successor was found, however, Nicol since informed the group he is "no longer able to do so."

Soomra will assume the joint role of interim CEO and chief financial officer as of March 1.

Kuttel stepped down to take a controlling stake in Westbank Fisheries, which operates Daybrook Fisheries' fleet in the United States.
