Ignacio Gonzalez, CEO of Nueva Pescanova, told IntraFish he is confident current shareholders will see the company's strategic plan succeed before selling off the company, amid reports that some majority shareholders are in talks to offload their stake in the seafood giant.

In March, Spanish bank Bankia sold its 3.5 percent stake in the company to Abanca, which also bought 0.068 percent from Deustche Bank and took its participation in the giant fishing and aquaculture company to 9 percent.

However, the banks have not made public any intentions to exit the company altogether just yet.
