“Salmon sales for this chain increased from NOK 700,000 (€84,000/$119,000) to NOK 2.5 million (€300,000/$425,000) in the course of the campaign,” NSEC Information Director Christian Chramer told IntraFish.
The chain, Hellu Sushi, has 26 restaurants in Shanghai and 120 altogether in China, and around 30 percent of its turnover derives from salmon.
This month the NSEC is running a campaign through four Chinese sushi chains, in a total of 63 restaurants.
“The chains promote the fact the sushi salmon comes from Norway. It will increase the preference for Norwegian seafood,” said Chramer.
