Borge Prytz Larsen, director of the Russian fisheries giant Severnaya, has voiced criticism of the high salmon prices to IntraFish. He says the high level of prices will harm Norwegian salmon export in the long run.
Other importers agree. In December, IntraFish reported that Russian salmon buyers were warning against a collapse in the market. They say the rapid growth for Norwegian sales in Russia is not sustainable due to the high prices. Among the critics were Denis Repinsky, as leader for one of the biggest Russian importers, DEFA Group.
