Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) said Tuesday it is filing three complaints against salmon farmer Nova Austral following findings that support allegations that the company misreported salmon mortalities to the authorities.

Just hours after Sernapesca’s announcement Tuesday, Nova Austral admitted in a statement to having identified ‘occasions of misreported mortalities,’ during its own internal investigation, which it opened after the publication of a news report by El Mostrador accusing it of falsifying records.

The accusations led authorities to temporarily suspend the company’s antibiotic-free certification, and to conduct an exhaustive investigation into Nova Austral’s operations.
