The Norwegian Government on Friday asked the Parliament for extended power of attorney to sell Cermaq to the most attractive bidder, less than a year after offloading the company's fish feed arm, according to an announcement from the Parliament.

The Norwegian government's holding in Cermaq is now considered a "Category 1" business investment, giving the State no particular reason to justify its investment in the group.

The government already has power of attorney from Parliament to sell Cermaq to a trade buyer.
