Left-wing socialist (and coalition) party Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV) is opposing Marine Harvest’s bid to acquire Cermaq.
“Essentially we’re opposing it, but the matter hasn’t been considered within the party yet,” SV’s industry-political spokesperson, Alf Holmelid, told IntraFish.
According to Holmelid, ownership is already too heavily concentrated in the salmon industry. The State’s 44 percent of the shares in Cermaq contributes to safeguarding diversity and prevents the ‘heavy-weights’ from getting any heavier.
This opposes SV's actions to remove the Norwegian ownership ceiling of 25 percent.
