The last time Norway's 'green' production licenses were dealt out, there were 69. Five of these were so-called ecological licenses, with specific requirements including content of salmon feed, criteria for lower stocking density and chemical-free de-lousing.
Four companies were allocated the five licenses.
Troms-based company Arnoy Laks thanked them for the offer but said no.
“The operational concept proved to be too demanding on a small company’s resources. We decided to prioritize elsewhere rather than develop this specific ecological concept,” Arnoy Laks Managing Director Haavard Hogstad told IntraFish.
