The agreement aims to provide a fuller indication of the extent of over-production in Norway and Chile, the world’s biggest producers of salmonid fish.
Updated production data would reveal, for instance, whether disease has an effect on production volumes.
Last Tuesday, the Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL) appealed for the agreement to be revived.
Director General Magnor Nerheim told IntraFish Fisheries Minister Helga Pedersen raised the matter in September 2006 with her Chilean counterpart at the AquaVision conference in Stavanger, Norway.
