The announcement follows some debate in the industry over whether Norway should fight the duty or not.

In 1991, the United States introduced a duty on imports on fresh, whole Norwegian salmon. The U.S. government reviews the regulation every five years, and the latest review kicked off in January this year.

Now the Norwegian government and the salmon industry have announced that they will take part in this year’s review efforts, dubbed the Sunset Review. The government will also take steps within the World Trade Organization to remove the duty.
