Norway state ownership scrutinized once more

Norwegian newspapers reported Wednesday SalMar and Leroy Seafood are preparing a takeover bid for Cermaq, ahead of Marine Harvest.

A surprise to many, but Tord Lien, Norwegian MP of the right-wing populist Progressive Party, Frp, said many want to keep the bulk of the Norwegian fish farming industry in Norwegian hands.

In an interview with IntraFish he said his standpoint was hardly controversial.

“That’s implicit in what I say. I’m worried that even more of the Norwegian salmon industry will end up in foreign hands," he said.
