The antidumping duty was implemented in 1991 and on average is 26 percent. Overnight Norway was cast out of the U.S. market. This created bitterness. Chile filled the vacuum. Then Norway filled the vacuum after Chile, which due to disease has not been capable of supplying its most important market in recent years.
The United States is the only major market Norway sends processed salmon to -- largely as semi-manufactured fillets. The United States sailed up last year as Norway’s fifth largest salmon market, in both volume and value.
