During August, more than 68,000 tons of salmon were slaughtered in Norway, according to Kontali Analyse's monthly salmon report for September.

According to Kontali, 543,000 metric tons of Norwegian salmon are in the cages. There are nearly 95,000 metric tons more than the same period last year.

Only half of this increase will be slaughtered in the second half of the year.

“The increase in Norwegian biomass is relatively marginal compared to the loss of production in Chile,” Kontali report's editor Ragnar Nystoyl told IntraFish.
