After inspecting several Norwegian salmon producers last week, the Russian food safety inspectorate Rosselkhoznadzor surprisingly called a press conference in Oslo on Saturday, threatening Norway with a salmon ban once more.
“The Norwegian authorities have to smarten up their act, otherwise the Norwegian seafood industry, in particular the aquaculture industry, risks being shut out from the Russian market," Alexie Alekseenko, deputy director at the agency told IntraFish.
"If the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) cannot guarantee food safety, we have no other option than to stop all imports of Norwegian fish."
