Norwegian officials have rejected Grimstad Holdings' bulk carrier aquaculture concept.

The company applied for seven development licenses for its "Aquarium" concept in February last year. The project aims to rebuild a bulk carrier to operate it as a closed-farm at sea. However, Norway's Fisheries Directorate believes the condition of "significant innovation" has not been met, and in April, the directorate rejected the application.

However, the company does not agree with the directorate's assessment and submitted a complaint asking for a reversal of the ruling.
